For those who haven’t heard, Comic-Con International and Lionsgate have teamed up to set up a new subscription video on-demand (SVOD) service with Comic-Con HQ. The channel is currently on free beta, although after the convention this July, you’d have to pay a monthly subscription of $5 or a discounted annual subscription of $50. The channel promises a lot of exclusive content including daily and weekly commentary, behind-the-scenes access and bonus features from genre titles, as well as some original series and reality shows.

A few weeks ago, Comic-Con HQ announced their new original series, Pop Culture Quest, with Star Wars’ Mark Hamill. Although he is mostly known for playing Luke Skywalker in the popular saga, Hamill– just like most of his fans– is also a big geek and an avid collector.  The show will feature different kinds of collectibles as well as the stories behind them. so if you think you have a huge collection, then I guess you can expect Mark Hamill on your doorstep any time soon.

In a press release, Hamill admits that he’s been a collector all his life. “This show is a natural outgrowth of that passion. Now I have an opportunity to collect other people’s collections! I can’t wait to see what’s out there and share it with the world. Collectibles are a living history of who and what we are, so we just might learn something…but there’s no doubt we’re going to have fun!”

Pop Culture Quest will start filming this month and is scheduled to be released this fall.
