Virtual Reality has really taken off in terms of cinema innovation. Suicide Squad is just one out of the many films to embrace this technology.

Suicide Squad is definitely one of the most anticipated superhero flicks this year. No wonder the film’s visibility at the San Diego Comic-Con was really exceptional. Aside from the cast appearance at the Warner Bros. panel and the many Harley Quinn cosplays, there’s also the Suicide Squad Virtual Reality Experience. Warner Bros. has teamed up with Samsung to create an immersive experience for the fans using the Samsung Gear VR. The experience literally puts you into the character’s POV during the film’s action sequences. The attraction was such a success; people were camping out on the street as if in line for Hall H.

To put together this one of a kind experience, the production used a custom-built camera rig created by Radiant Images. Radiant Images is the leading digital cinema innovator in terms of 2D, 3D, VR and augmented reality. The company has already been working with a lot of productions since 2009. Some of their films include 127 Hours, Transformers 4, and Furious 7. During our interview, Client Relations Karl Alsens showed us the different camera rigs that they used for the Suicide Squad Virtual Reality Experience.
